  Charles S. Lytle founder of Leisure Care Retirement Homes (sold to management in 2003), President of P.A.C.E.  (Performing Arts Center of the Eastside), and current President of Lytle Enterprises, is a pioneer in the senior housing market. Nationally he has been involved as a board member in senior housing organizations, community hospitals, and health maintenance organizations.

     Lytle is a resident of Mercer Island. His local community activities include Chairman of Swedish Medical Center Foundation, President of Washington State Special Olympics, Vice Chairman for the Alexis de Tocqueville Society for United Way, Board member of the Marsha Rivkin Center for Ovarian Cancer Research, and Vice President of PONCHO. Chuck joined the PACE Board as Co-Chair for the $100 Million Capital and Endowment Campaign in 2006.

Chuck Lytle established Lytle Enterprises in 1976, the same year he founded Leisure Care, and successfully led both companies for just under three decades. His visionary approach and entrepreneurial style were key components to Leisure Care rising from its modest beginning to its present status as one of the most successful and respected management companies in the retirement industry. In April of 2003, the Lytles sold Leisure Care to management. Since 1967, Chuck has been actively involved in the management, acquisition, and development of over $1.5 billion in health care and retirement housing.

Nationally, he has been involved as a board member in senior housing organizations, community hospitals, health maintenance organizations, and, most recently sat on the board of Payless Drugs. Locally, Chuck has served on various boards, including chairman of Swedish Medical Center Foundation, president of Washington State Special Olympics, vice chairman for the Alexis de Tocqueville Society for United Way, board member of the Marsha Rivkin Center for Ovarian Cancer Research, vice president of PONCHO, chairman of the Cancer Advisory Council at Swedish Medical Center, as well as a board member and co-chair for the Performing Arts Center Eastside (PACE) $100 Million Capital and Endowment Campaign. Before founding Leisure Care and Lytle Enterprises, Chuck’s experience in retirement communities included construction management and managing the medical real estate division of SAFECO Insurance, Inc.
